In this week’s Europe Weekly we focus on the challenges facing women in the workplace and the difficulties for young people finding a job in Europe.

The EU’s Justice chief Viviane Reding tried to impose a 40 percent quota on EU firms this week to get more women in top jobs, but her plan hit the buffers in Strasbourg.

Elsewhere, a new report claims 14 million young Europeans are out of work and not in any form of education. We speak to the author of the study.

We also take a look at the long-running student exchange programme Erasmus, with fears it could disappear for good and we have the winner of this year’s Sakharov prize.
