Adult film makers in Los Angeles have been asked to stop production this week, after a performer was found to be HIV positive.

The Free Speech Coalition, a trade group, called for the shut-down after consulting with medics.

Although voluntary, the moratorium on porn film production is likely to be respected, as bigger players in the industry generally work with the coalition.

The sex partners of the actress concerned are currently being tested by doctors.

Once the risk of transmission has been eliminated, the moratorium will be lifted.

An adult industry trade magazine, X-Biz, said the performer is female and new to the industry.
