It’s the kind of footage that might have his sons Prince William and Prince Harry running for cover.

Prince Charles, next in line to the throne in Britain, wore traditional robes as he danced during a festival of culture in Saudi Arabia.

He took part in the sword dance in the capital Riyadh, during a tour of the Middle East, which will also include a visit to Qatar.

The dance, called the Ardah, was performed as part of the Janadriyah Festival, a two-week cultural extravaganza that celebrates Saudi heritage.

Official royal visits have seen Prince Charles take to the dancefloor on a number of occasions, as euronews’ montage below shows.

It includes, perhaps most infamously, breakdancing in the 1980s and doing the waltz in Glasgow, Scotland.
