Third seed Stan Wawrinka has taken the men’s US Open title – beating top-seeded defending champion Novak Djokovic.

Third seed Stan Wawrinka has taken the men’s US Open title – beating top-seeded defending champion Novak Djokovic.

It is the third grand slam title of the 31-year-old’s career.

The match was a four setter: 6-7, 6-4, 7-5, 6-3.

Wawrinka also defeated Djokovic on his way to winning the 2014 Australian Open and the French Open the following year.
