Russian President Vladimir Putin met with his Syrian counterpart Bashar Assad in Moscow, as shown in a video released by the Kremlin press service on Thursday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin met with his Syrian counterpart Bashar Assad in Moscow, as shown in a video released by the Kremlin press service on Thursday.

Putin expressed concern over rising tensions in the Middle East, but neither leader offered further details about their discussion.

Russia has waged a military campaign in Syria since September 2015, teaming up with Iran to allow Assad’s government to fight armed opposition groups and reclaim control over most of the country.
