Video. Thousands of believers celebrate Jesus Nazareno in the Philippines

Hundreds of thousands of Catholic faithful took part in the annual procession in Manila, Philippines, to venerate a black statue of Jesus, known as the Black Nazarene.

This event, a celebration of Jesus Nazareno, attracts huge crowds every year, especially among the poor, praying for miracles or a better life.

Accompanied by heavy security and technological surveillance, the procession covers almost 6 kilometres.

The life-size statue, dating from 1606, is revered for its resistance to disasters, which many associate with miraculous powers.
