It is not immediately clear why the car drove into the group but emergency services said they believed it was an accident.

A car drove into a crowd in the German capital Berlin, injuring several people, the Bild daily newspaper reported on Thursday.

Some children were slightly injured and an adult sustained severe injuries, a fire brigade spokesperson said.

The incident happened shortly before 1 pm in the north-western district of Wedding.

Police said it is not immediately clear how the car drove into the group but emergency services said they believed it was an accident.
