Ukrainian forces shot down 60 Russian attack drones overnight from Saturday to Sunday, the Ukrainian Air Force reported on Sunday morning.

The drones were shot down over Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kirovohrad, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, and Donetsk, it said.

A total of 94 drones were launched from bases in the Russian territories of Millerovo, Oryol, Bryansk, and Kursk. While falling debris caused damage to several residential houses in Kharkiv, Sumy, and Poltava, the Air Force reported no casualties.

The attacks came in the aftermath of large-scale attacks on the frontline area of Donetsk on Saturday.

Among the areas hit was the town of Bilytske. At least four explosions were heard in the town. The shelling damaged a petrol station and at least two nearby residential buildings.

Further Russian advances on eastern front

Parked cars also caught fire as a result of the strike. According to a spokeswoman for the State Emergency Service of Donetsk region, rescuers extinguished a fire at the site of the strike. Two houses, an administrative building, an infrastructure facility and cars were damaged.

At least 132 people, including 12 children, were evacuated from Donetsk, Governor Vadym Filashkin reported on Sunday morning.

According to Filashkin, Russian troops shelled the settlements of Donetsk 20 times over throughout Saturday, killing one person in the village of Hryshyne, not far from Pokrovsk.

Saturday's attacks damaged over 60 houses in Donetsk, he added.

Russian troops are continuing to advance on the eastern front. Pokrovsk and Kurakhove remain the focal points of the Russian eastern offensive, now in its fifth month.

On Sunday, Russia's Ministry of Defence claimed it had captured three settlements in the eastern Donbass region over the past week.

It also claimed that the Ukrainian army’s losses in the frontline areas of Kharkov and Kursk over the week totalled more than 2,835 personnel, 30 tanks and 122 armoured combat vehicles.
