Belgium has not yet nominated its EU Commissioner, even though Friday, 30 August, is the deadline imposed by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

Why does Belgium struggle to put forward a name, and what does that say about the country's politics?

Radio Schuman discusses the issue today with the journalist Wouter Vershelden.

We also take a quick look at what is on the EU agenda following heated discussions during an informal gathering of EU foreign affairs ministers yesterday — with member states at odds over Middle East sanctions.

On a lighter note, we look at sales of new Barbie phones with some unusual features.

Radio Schuman is hosted and produced by Maïa de la Baume, with journalist and production assistant Eleonora Vasques, audio editing by Zacharia Vigneron and music by Alexandre Jas.
