American rockstar Jon Bon Jovi has been commended by the Metro Nashville Police Department after he talked a woman off the ledge of a bridge.

The US singer was filming a music video on the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge when he and other members of his band saw the woman and helped convince her to come back over to safety, away from falling into the Cumberland River.
Nashville’s Police Department shared a CCTV video of the incident and hailed the 62-year-old’s efforts. “It takes all of us to help keep each other safe,” Chief John Drake said.
As others walked by, Bon Jovi and the unidentified team member approached the woman and started speaking to her. Bon Jovi leans on the railing and speaks to her as his team member got closer and held onto her arm.
After a few moments, the pair convinced the woman to step back over to safety, where she gave Bon Jovi a hug.
The video that Metro Nashville Police Department shared to YouTube has since been taken down, but the footage has been copied and is causing a stir on social media.
“Footage of Jon Bon Jovi saving a woman’s life by talking with her and getting her off the edge of committing suicide,” Jerry Braden posted to X.
“Absolutely love this guy & his compassion towards people. My hero not only as a musician, but as a human being. Hope this lady is doing a lot better. If you or anyone is thinking about suicide or depressed, call 988 to talk with someone,” the user continued.
